Battlefield 2042 events take place in a futuristic setting. In this world, there is a global shortage of food, energy and water which has led to a worldwide crisis that all nations have to deal with. The global refugee number has increased past anything ever witnessed in human history.

Among this group are families, engineers, farmers and even soldiers. Amidst this disaster things only get worse as the United States and Russia cause the world to head into war. No-Pat specialists join each side not fighting for flags, but the future of a Non-Patriated in this new world.

The developers state that the maps have been built with next-gen compatibility in mind. This change will be seen in the huge amount of players. In the “all-out warfare” mode matches will support up to 128 players for next-gen consoles and PC. This number will however be limited to 64 for PS4 and Xbox One.

Sadly, Battlefield 2042 will not feature a traditional single-player campaign as we’ve seen in the past games. Considering that the game is free this doesn’t come as much of a shock.

Will Battlefield 2042 support crossplay?

As of 2021, Crossplay is an expected feature for games especially those that are to be released on next-gen consoles. So will battlefield 2042 support crossplay?

Up to now, there haven’t been any confirmations of crossplay support but seeing as EA is trying to drag in some of the Call of Duty: Warzone fans with this new release, the probability of crossplay is quite high.

Hopefully, for the first time in the franchise, you’ll be able to game with your friends regardless of whether you are on Xbox, Playstation or PC.
